Music
At the age of 10 I started with clarinet lessons, which I took for 8 years. Later I switched to tenor saxophone and added after some time soprano and alto.
I've played with a lot of groups a lot of different music. Starting with classical stuff, later some Rock, Fusion, Jazz and so on. During the time I had to spend in the army I was glad to be a member of Luftwaffenmusikkorps 2 Karlsruhe. Nice to play clarinet instead exercising with guns and that stuff. Now I'm active in 2 (3) groups, which I want to present in short.
Kurpfälzisches Saxophonquartett
The Kurpfälzische Saxophonquartett exists for more than 25 years. And the three gentleman on the picture are still there from the beginning (not sure if this is *real* english; I hope you know what I wanted to say ;-)
Blue note BIG BAND
Since Autumn 2002 I'm a proud member of the Blue note BIG BAND, which played with so good musicians as Ack van Rooyen, Tony Lakatos, Peter Weniger, Bobby Shew und Bob Mintzer. Big Band music is great. In June 2006 we recorded a new CD. Exiting.
Instruments
I'm one of those Conn fanatics. I own a Conn 10M »Lady Face« tenor from the 30s, combined with an Otto Link »Super Tone Master« 7* metal mouthpiece with Rico Royal 3 reeds. With the Quartett I use a Rascher hard rubber mouthpiece. At home in the chamber is a King Super 20 from the 70s waiting for to be repaired.
My soprano is a curved Yanagisawa with Selmer E mouthpiece.
The rarely used clarinet is a student model by Richard Keilwerth. Good piece.
My alto is, ahem, a Jupiter. BUT I have a vintage Buescher »True Tone« which will be repaired somedays. As mouthpiece I use Meyer on alto, what else?
