Konkurrenz belebt das Geschäft
Das Searchenginejournal berichtet, dass ca. 30 frühere und noch aktive ODP- bzw. Dmoz-Editoren jetzt beim Katalog Best of the Web gegen Cash Einträge bearbeiten:
Best of the Web (BOTW.org) has pulled off an Internet web site classification coup de etat, hiring over 30 of the top DMOZ editors which had built the foundations of the Netscape Open Directory Project during the ‘glory days’ of DMOZ. [...]
The new Best of the Web team is a hand-picked squad, with many names well known in the directory industry. It includes 6 of the most active “metas” from the days ODP took its baby steps; laisha, kfander, furbis, mitch, kctipton, former DMOZ Admin bldarter, plus many other long-term editors well known for their active leadership and editing roles… robjones, compostannie, alucard, spectregunner, desertjules, and many more.
Hey, da fühlt man sich doch fast wichtig, wenn die Jungs von botw damit Reklame machen, dass bei ihnen ODP-Editoren werkeln.
Ach ja, wenn man bei botw.org gelistet wird (vorausgesetzt man wird aufgenommen), wird eine Jahresgebühr von aktuell $79.95 fällig. Wenn ich mich recht erinnere, werden die Editoren pro Eintrag bezahlt; allerdings ist eine Zahlung nur innerhalb der USA möglich (das finde ich auf der Site gerade nicht; evtl. hat sich das mittlweile geändert).
Im Gegensatz dazu ist ein Eintrag im ODP komplett kostenlos (vorausgesetzt man wird aufgenommen), Google übernimmt von Zeit zu Zeit die Einträge ins Google-Verzeichnis und zeigt die Texte z. T. bei den Google-Suchergebnissen an.
Und die freiwilligen Editoren arbeiten unbezahlt. Dafür werden sie in SEO-Foren ausgiebig beschimpft.

my german is a bit rusty (ok I don’t speak german at all).
but are you saying you need to pay $79/year for your listing?
getting a link on a PR6 site is not worth that much.. why would people bother?
